Happy New Year!

As usual I'm running late with the New Year's wishes!  I didn't think I would be busy this holiday season, but somehow the days just flew by.  As the old year wrapped up and we started the new year I have been trying to reorganize things in our house--You know the first flurry of unpacking was just to get things on the shelves and out of the boxes, now I'm trying to make sure we have things where we can find them.  I have been reveling in the unusual pleasure of spending my entire day with Babes.  We took a quick trip to Shanghai (I thought to make an entire post out of the trip, but really it was too cold and wet to do any fun site seeing, so we just relaxed, ate Western food, and enjoyed being out of Wuhan, doesn't really make for interesting reading).  And we started planning on the best way to get Honeydog to China with us.
BUT!  We did take time to see off the old year with a mini-Russian feast

and ring in the New Year with an update on the traditional Southern New Year's feast.  My parent's always made greens, black eyed peas, and Ham (for those of you who don't know, the black eyed peas are to bring luck, the greens bring money, and the ham symbolizes moving forward into the new year), but since I can't stand black eyed peas I made Barely hoppin' John, baby bok choi, and baked pork chops and apples (because I don't know where to buy ham in Wuhan).

I didn't make any New Year's resolutions, but I think I'd like to try to learn how to do something New this year, I just don't know what it is yet.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!

New Year!

It's the New Year (yeah I know I'm late) and we are already back in gear! After the child and husband mutinied I was forced to leave the tree up an extra week, but it's finally down. I don't know why, I think it's parental influence, but having the tree up past New Year feels a bit like clinging to the old year. I like to have Christmas done and put away so that we can get onto new business!
My sister is coming this week and I plan on taking a TON of photos and we're doing a bunch of traveling so I hope to take some time to update the TRAVELING part of my now non-travel related blog. Maybe I should change the description of my blog. Because really it's now more about stay at home mommying overseas. We don't travel NEARLY as much as we used to. *SIGH* I miss it. BUT little sis is coming and then we are headed back to the US to try to visit EVERYONE, and then when we get back, well I don't know.
But for now Happy New Year everyone!

New Year

So I have looked back on this year's blogging and have come to a decision. I am no longer going to pay for my own domain name. Yes, it's only $10 a year, but there is no need. So starting next month I am going to move my blog to a free space and slowly dismantle my old website (that I never did anything to).
What else will I do this year? I have no idea. I have tried to come up with a list of New Year's resolutions, but my imagination escapes me. I guess I could continue to work on my old standards. Write more, lose weight (when did this become part of my standard list, I am disgusted with myself I HATE dieting), get in shape (which should help with the lose weight part), get organized (HA! Never happens!), be friendlier (is it possible to change your own nature?).
Maybe a better thing would be to complete some of the short term projects that I have started and haven't finished. Like Z's 1st year book/and pics, start her 2nd and 3rd year book and pics, and maybe a 2009 family book. Finish Z's quilt. Finish DH's fish blanket. I don't know what else, I'm sure there's something though.
